Varsity Volleyball Tournament Champions

Divine Savior Academy came away as the C-M Cares Tournament Champions this past weekend. The sixteen-team C-M Cares tournament was hosted by Chaminade-Madonna and Archbishop McCarthy.
The Sharks won all three of their pool play matches on Friday in straight sets and advanced to the gold bracket on Saturday. In the semifinal match, Divine Savior defeated Archbishop McCarthy 25-20, 25-12. This set up a matchup with Pine Crest for the Championship. The Sharks dropped the first set 22-25 before bouncing back and taking the final two sets 25-17, 15-11 to earn the title.
Divine Savior seniors, Isabella Mendoza, Isabel Macia, and Maite Alberdi were selected to the all-tournament team with Isabella Mendoza being recognized as the tournament MVP. Seniors, Belyssa Cruz, Amanda Torres, Natallia Cappellaro, and Mariana Amor also had a great tournament for the Sharks.
Divine Savior now stands with a record of 9-1 and next takes on Miami Southwest at 5:30 pm on Wednesday in Doral. The Shark’s next tournament is the Battle of the Beach Invitational hosted by Venice high school the weekend of Oct 1-2. This tournament has some of the best teams in Florida attending and should provide some excellent volleyball matches.
