Varsity Volleyball Takes Down Ransom Everglades


The varsity volleyball team opened up regular season play with a straight-set win over Ransom Everglades Thursday night on the road. The Sharks took the match 25-18, 25-20, 25-23.

The Raiders of Ransom Everglades pushed the Sharks throughout the match in providing a solid challenge. The first two sets saw the Sharks take control early and never allowing Ransom Everglades to take a lead. In the third set, however, the Raiders took a late 20-22 lead before the Sharks closed on a 5-1 run. It was a great atmosphere for the first regular-season match of the year and provide a great test for the visiting Sharks.

Divine Savior was lead by Maite Alberdi with 16 kills and 10 digs. Maite recorded those 16 kills on a ridiculously impressive .762 hitting percentage. Isabella Mendoza also had a solid match recording 18 kills. Setter, Isabel Macia finished with 22 assists on the night.

Divine Savior (1-0) next travels to Florida Christian Monday, August 30 for a 7:30 pm showdown on the road.
