Varsity Soccer Gets the Season Rolling
The Divine Savior Academy Sharks Varsity Boys’ team will start their season against the Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie. Kickoff is scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Hialeah Educational Academy is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand Mater Brickell Academy a 5-0 shutout.
Hialeah Educational Academy’s victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Divine Savior Academy, they’ve got a clean slate. Last year, they had a phenomenal run, finishing with a superb 13-4-1 record.
Divine Savior Academy beat Hialeah Educational Academy by a goal in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Divine Savior Academy since the team won’t have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
Meanwhile, on the women’s side, the Lady Sharks will head out to take on the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart Cyclones at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they’ve probably got a bit of extra motivation.
The Sharks will look to bounce back after they opened up their season losing 8-0 to Ransom Everglades. The Sharks haven’t had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team’s come up short the last four times they’ve met.
Meanwhile, Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart’s season-opener on Monday wasn’t quite what the team was looking for considering the end result. Neither they nor NSU University could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw.
Divine Savior Academy suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in their previous meeting back in January. Can Divine Savior Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll find out soon enough.
