Varsity Volleyball falls in Championship Match

The varsity volleyball team recently participated in the Florida Christian Tournament on September 30 and October 1. The Sharks rolled through the pool play rounds on Friday and advanced to the gold bracket on Saturday.

In the semifinal match, DSA swept Ransom Everglades in a convincing victory. That win set up a rematch with Gulliver Prep in the championship. The Sharks beat Gulliver in the championship match of the Chaminade-Madonna tournament just a few weeks earlier.

The Sharks stormed out to a 1-0 set lead after winning by a comfortable margin. DSA was controlling the serve and serve receive side of the game flawlessly. The second set was much tighter, and the Raiders eventually tied the match at one set apiece. In the third and final set, the teams traded momentum swings back and forth. With the score tied 13-13 a critical missed call went the way of Gulliver and allowed them to gain an advantage. Gulliver Prep went on to take the victory with a 16-14 final set win.

The girls played hard and earned their spot in the championship match. The team now stands with a record of 15 wins against only two losses. The team only has two weeks left in the regular season. Come cheer on and support the team at their final two home games on Tuesday, October 4 and Thursday, October 13. GO SHARKS!
